Manufacturing
The IS 2062 standard specifies the requirements for Mild Steel Bolts, including foundation bolts, and the material used for their manufacture. Foundation bolts are typically made of mild steel bars conforming to grade 1 of IS: 432 and/or grade A of IS: 2062. The IS: 5624 standard provides further details on foundation bolts, including their design and dimensions, and specifies the property class 4.6 to 8.8 for foundation bolts. Foundation bolts are often used with nuts and washers, and their material and dimensions should also conform to relevant standards like IS: 1363, IS: 1364, and IS: 5624. IS 2062 and Foundation Bolts:
Material
Mild steel bars used for foundation bolts should conform to grade 1 of IS: 432 and/or grade A of IS: 2062. While IS: 2062 specifies the material, IS: 5624 provides the design and dimensional requirements for foundation bolt
Nuts and Washers
Hexagonal nuts and lock nuts should also conform to relevant standards IS: 1363, IS: 1364, and IS: 5624.
Property Class
IS: 5624 specifies a property class 4.6 to 8.8 for foundation bolts, but higher property classes may be used as per application.
Design
The shank form is optional, but compliance with maximum dimensions (space requirement dimensions) is required.
Welding
HDG foundation bolts may be welded to plates for increased strength and structural support.
Dimensions
The standard specifies dimensions for various types of shank designs, ensuring compatibility with different applications.
Scope
IS: 5624 covers the requirements for foundation bolts designed for use in masonry, concrete foundations, and similar applications.
